SUMMER SCHOOL
on
Time
Delay Equations and Control Theory
Dobbiaco
(Bolzano - Italy), June 25-29, 2001
The Dipartimento di Scienze Matematiche
of the University of Trieste is organizing a Summer School on 'Time Delay
Equations and Control Theory' in Dobbiaco
(Bolzano - Italy) in the period June 25-29, 2001. The School is organized
in collaboration with the Dipartimento
di Elettronica e Automatica of the University of Ancona and is partially
supported by the 'Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica' (Gruppo
Nazionale di Calcolo Scientifico) and by the IEEE - Control System
Society (IEEE Central
and South Italy Section, IEEE-CSC, Italian Chapter).
Time delay equations appear in modeling a very large number of dynamical
behaviours and their study is of great importance in areas of control theory
like process control, teleoperation, remotely operated vehicles and others.
In recent years, a large effort has been made for developing suitable mathematical
tools and numerical procedures which may allow to deal with theoratical
and applied problems and a number of results concerning analytic properties
and construction of solutions for time delay equations is now available.
At the same time, classical design techniques have been extended to time
delay systems and several control problems have been solved or partially
solved. However, the mutual impact of the advances in these two directions
has not yet been completely exploited or even explored. The aim of the
School is to illustrate the state of the art in this area from the point
of view of numerical analysis, on one side, and from that of control theory,
on the other, so to promote exchange of ideas and cross fertilization.
In particular, the School inted to offer to young researcher the possibility
to increase their culture and knowledge in an area where mathematics and
control theory meet closely.
The School consists of invited lectures. The invited speakers are:
Alfredo Germani
of the 'Dipartimento di Ingegneria Elettrica' of the University of l'Aquila
(Italy),
Karel in't Hout of the
Mathematical Institute dell'Università di Leiden (The Nederlands),
Giovanni
Marro of the 'Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informatica e Sistemistica'
of the University of Bologna (Italy),
Michel Dambrine of the 'Ecole Centrale Lille'
of Villenueve D'Ascq (France),
The title of the lectures are the following:
-
Linear Control Theory
(G. Marro)
-
Numerical Methods for Time Delay Systems (K.
