Since several decades applied mathematicians have been paying a great attention to the development and analysis of models for describing and investigating various aspects of human life. The interest ranges from the biology of human body and the many issues related to individual and collective health, to the many phenomena influencing and influenced by the human activities such as climate changes, ecological effect of pollution, human fluxes and mobility, financial market dynamics, criticality in ground and flight traffic flow, spread of information via internet and many more.

All this matter trends to be referred to as Mathematics for Life Science and includes deep and sophisticated tools of both theoretical and computational mathematics and statistics.

In this field, the INdAM is carrying out a program of Joint Conferences and post-doc exchanges with the NSF of China, co-funded by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MAE) and of Education (MIUR) within the framework of the Agreement on Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the Italian Republic.

The project aims at strengthening the already existing cooperation on mathematical research between Italy and China , as well as at fostering the mobility, in particular of young researchers, between the two Countries.
